KolaVid Integrations: Every Way to Make a Video
Make KolaVid whiteboard videos from Chrome, Google Docs and Slides, Slack, Discord, Telegram, Zapier, Make, Claude or the API. Install links and examples.
You can make a KolaVid whiteboard video without opening kolavid.com first. Turn the web page you are reading into a video with the Chrome extension, send a Google Doc or Slides deck from a side panel, ask for one in Slack, Discord or Telegram, start one from a Zapier or Make automation, ask Claude, or call the API from your own code.
Every one of these sends your topic, text or link to the same KolaVid engine. You get the same narrated whiteboard video, where each drawing appears as the narrator says it, one idea a board, and it uses the same credits as a video made on the website. Below is one short section per integration with its install link and an example you can copy, then a table to help you pick.
Which integration should you use?
| You work in... | Use | What you send | Video length |
|---|---|---|---|
| A web browser | Chrome extension | The page you are reading, or selected text | Set on kolavid.com |
| Google Docs or Slides | Docs and Slides add-on | The open document or deck, or part of it | Set on kolavid.com |
| Slack | /kolavid slash command | A topic, notes or a link | 1 or 2 minutes |
| Discord | /video command | A topic, notes or a link | 1 or 2 minutes |
| Telegram | KolaVid bot | A topic, notes or a link | 1 or 2 minutes |
| Zapier or Make | Automation app | A topic, text or a web page from another app | 1 to 5 minutes |
| Claude | Custom connector | A topic, notes or a link, in plain words | 1 to 5 minutes |
| Your own code | API or MCP server | A prompt, text or up to three links | 1 to 5 minutes |
Free accounts make videos up to 2 minutes; paid plans go up to 5.
Chrome extension: turn a web page into a video
Install it from the Chrome Web Store. It is coming to Edge and Firefox too.
On any article or help page, click the KolaVid button in the toolbar and choose Turn this page into a whiteboard video. Or select some text, right-click it and choose Make a whiteboard video from this text. KolaVid opens in a new tab with the link or text already in the composer, and you press Make.
Example: you are reading a long article about how interest rates affect mortgages. Click the button, pick 2 minutes and a Tall 9:16 frame, and you have a short explainer for your team chat.
The extension only sends the page address or your selected text, and only when you click it. Full guide: turn any web page into a video with the Chrome extension.
Google Docs and Slides add-on
Install KolaVid Whiteboard Video Maker from the Google Workspace Marketplace. The KolaVid icon then sits in the right-hand side panel of Docs and Slides.
The panel shows how many words it will send and a short preview. In Slides it reads every slide in order with your speaker notes. Press Make a whiteboard video, or select part of the file and press Use selected text only.
Example: a science teacher opens the Slides deck for Monday's lesson on the water cycle, keeps the speaker notes she already wrote, and presses the button. On kolavid.com she picks a voice and a length and makes the video for homework.
If Google shows "Sorry, unable to open the file at present" while installing, your browser is signed in to several Google accounts. Install from a private window, or from inside a document: Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons, then search KolaVid. Full guide: Google Docs and Slides to video with the KolaVid add-on.
Slack: /kolavid in any channel
Add KolaVid to Slack. It works in any workspace.
Type `/kolavid` and a topic, some notes or a link in a channel, pick 1 or 2 minutes, and the video is posted in that channel, usually in 2 to 3 minutes. Each person connects their own KolaVid account once, and the videos they ask for use that account's credits.
Example: `/kolavid how our expense claims process works, for new starters`
Full guide: make explainer videos in Slack with /kolavid.
Discord: the /video command
Add KolaVid to Discord. It works in a server or in a direct message with the app.
Use `/video` with a topic or a link. The first time, you get a private Connect button to link your KolaVid account. The video is posted where you asked for it, and the person who asked pays with their own credits.
Example: `/video topic: how compound interest works, with one worked example`

Telegram: send the bot a topic
Open @KolaVidBot in Telegram. Send a topic, some pasted notes or a link to a web page, pick 1 or 2 minutes, and the video comes back in the chat. Want it in another language? Say so in the message.
Example: `How do vaccines work, for 12-year-olds, in Spanish`
The bot also understands `/connect`, `/disconnect` and `/help`. Full guide: Telegram bot that makes explainer videos.

Zapier: start videos from other apps
While the KolaVid app is in Zapier's beta, add it with this Zapier invite link. You connect it with a KolaVid API key.
It has an action, Make Whiteboard Video (a topic, text or web page; 1 to 5 minutes; 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1; narration language), a trigger, Video Finished, and a search, Find Video.
Example: when a new post goes up on your blog, make a 2-minute video from its link. In a second Zap, when a video finishes, post its link to your team.
Full guide: automate explainer videos with Zapier.
Make: whiteboard videos in a scenario
Add the KolaVid app to Make with this Make invite link, then paste a KolaVid API key into a new connection.
The modules are Make a Whiteboard Video, Watch Finished Videos and Get a Video. Make a Whiteboard Video returns at once with the video's ID; the video itself takes a few minutes.
Example: RSS or WordPress feeds new articles into Make a Whiteboard Video. A second scenario watches finished videos and sends each one to Slack, Gmail or Google Drive.
Full guide: automate whiteboard videos with Make.
Claude: ask for a video in a chat
Add KolaVid to Claude as a custom connector with the server URL `https://kolavid.com/mcp`. The step-by-step guide is on the KolaVid in Claude page. After you connect and click Allow, ask for a video in plain words. Claude gives you the link when it is ready, usually in 2 to 4 minutes.
Example: "Make a 2-minute whiteboard video explaining photosynthesis for 10-year-olds."
Claude can also check whether a video is ready, list your recent videos and show your credit balance. It cannot delete, publish or share your videos. Full guide: make whiteboard videos in Claude.
API and MCP server for developers
Make an API key in your KolaVid account (Account > API keys), then send `POST https://kolavid.com/api/v1/videos` with a prompt, some text or a link. Poll the video every 30 seconds or so until it is completed, then download the MP4. The developer docs list every field, and the same MCP server Claude uses works in other assistants that support MCP.
Example: a learning platform sends each new lesson's text to the API with `"length_minutes": 2` and `"aspect_ratio": "16:9"`, then stores the finished MP4 next to the lesson.
One account makes one video at a time. Full guide: whiteboard video API and MCP server.
What every integration has in common
- One account, one set of credits. Whiteboard videos cost 1 credit a second, wherever you start them. A free account gets 120 credits, enough for one 2-minute video, with no card. See pricing for the paid plans.
- No credits for failed videos. If a video cannot be finished, nothing is taken.
- They see only what you send. The chat bots read the messages you send them, the browser extension sends a page address or selected text when you click, and the Docs add-on reads only the file it is open in.
- The video is the same. Narrated, drawn as it is spoken, in landscape 16:9, vertical 9:16 or square 1:1, with a female or male voice in many languages.
If you are not sure what to send, short and specific works best in every integration: say the subject, who will watch and what they should understand at the end. Our guide to writing a prompt for a whiteboard video has examples.
Troubleshooting
The bot asks me to connect. Every chat app links to your own KolaVid account once. Press the Connect button it sends; sign-up is free if you have no account yet.
The video was too big to post. Chat apps limit file sizes. When a video is too big, the bot sends a link to watch or download it on KolaVid instead.
I see "not enough credits". Each integration uses your account's balance. Check it in the app, or ask Claude "How many KolaVid credits do I have left?"
Something else. The support page has answers to common questions and the email address for help.
FAQ
Do the integrations cost extra?
No. They are free to install. Videos use the credits in your KolaVid account at the same rate as videos made on the website.
Can I make longer videos from Slack, Discord or Telegram?
The chat bots offer 1 or 2 minutes. For up to 5 minutes, use the website, the Chrome extension, the Docs and Slides add-on, Claude, Zapier, Make or the API, on a paid plan.
Where do the videos end up?
In your KolaVid library, the same as videos you make on the website, so you can download the MP4 or share a link from there.
Which integration is best for teachers?
Most teachers start with the Google Docs and Slides add-on, because the lesson is already in a doc or deck. The teachers page shows sample lesson videos.
Start with the one you already use
Pick the app you have open most of the day and install that one first. A free KolaVid account includes one 2-minute video, so you can try it on a real topic before deciding. The integrations page has quick buttons for the chat apps.
